Upload limits for PDFs on Indian portals, with sources
Indian portals state uploads as hard limits — a size in KB, a format, sometimes a range — and a refused upload is usually the first sign of one. These are the rules this site has checked, where it checked them, and when.
The table
Every row below is also a requirement you can apply in one press on the Quality step of the builder, under Requirements. A row from a secondary source — a news report or a coaching site rather than the official notice — is labelled as such there too: confirm it on the official portal before relying on it, because exam rules change every cycle.
| Requirement | Rule | Source, checked |
|---|---|---|
| myAadhaar online document update | JPEG, PNG or PDF; each file under 2 MB. | UIDAI, Commonly Asked Questions (document update), 2026-10-18 (primary) |
| Indian mission passport / consular documents (Bogotá guideline) | Documents in PDF; up to 1 MB each and 1 MB in total; up to 5 documents. Set here to 200 KB a file so five fit the 1 MB total. Other missions differ. | Embassy of India, Bogotá — upload guideline, 2026-10-18 (primary) |
| DigiLocker self-uploaded document | PDF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP or GIF; each file up to 10 MB. | Wikipedia summary of the DigiLocker upload rule, 2026-10-18 (secondary — confirm on the official portal) |
| NEET (UG) — PwBD certificate | PDF or JPG, between 50 KB and 300 KB. | Careers360 report of the NTA information bulletin, 2026-10-18 (secondary — confirm on the official portal) |
| UPSC online application — photo ID document | PDF, about 20 KB to 300 KB. | PW summary (no notice cited), 2026-10-18 (secondary — confirm on the official portal) |
What the builder does with each rule
- myAadhaar online document update: a limit of 2.0 MB, a 200 DPI ceiling, document mode for every photo.
- Indian mission passport / consular documents (Bogotá guideline): a limit of 200 KB, a 150 DPI ceiling, grey pages, document mode for every photo.
- DigiLocker self-uploaded document: a limit of 10 MB, a 200 DPI ceiling.
- NEET (UG) — PwBD certificate: a size range of 50 KB to 300 KB, a 150 DPI ceiling, grey pages, document mode for every photo.
- UPSC online application — photo ID document: a size range of 20 KB to 300 KB, a 150 DPI ceiling, grey pages, 2 photos to a page, document mode for every photo.
Where a rule gives a total across several files — the mission’s 1 MB for up to five documents — the requirement sets a per-file figure that keeps the total inside it, and the Save step can split one pile into several PDFs with the running total shown.
What a size limit cannot promise
A file that meets the figures can still be refused: the portal may expect a particular document, a particular page count, or a signature it checks by eye. This site only ever says that the file meets the figures it was given. It never says a portal will accept it. Read the portal’s instructions once more before you upload, and keep the receipt from the Save step — it lists the measured size, page size and resolution, which is what a helpdesk will ask for.
Not this tool’s job
Many of the same portals ask for a passport-style photo (for example 630 × 810 pixels) and a signature image (for example 10 to 50 KB as JPG). Those are image-resizing jobs, not PDF jobs, and this site does not make passport photos. Where a portal accepts a photo or a signature as a PDF, the size-limited builder with Fit to photo paper does it.
To fit a tight limit, start from under 200 KB or under 100 KB; for a certificate photographed on a desk, scan picture to PDF whitens the paper, which also makes the file smaller.
